Institutional Support and Capacity Building: a Centre of Excellence

The training centre-like component of the Livestock Development Project is being emulated. A training plan has been in place since 2018. 13 experts have already benefited from high-level training. They are five students, six regional chiefs of services and two senior staff from the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, MINEPIA.

PRODEL displays 289 customer-days in its counter of training provided. The breeders, municipal officials and MINEPIA staff are the beneficiaries. The goal of 500 customer days remains pursued. The disruption associated with the COVID-19 pandemic also slowed the speed of execution of the training plan.

The result of 100% stems more from the support of umbrella (organizations). The Project has structured a minimum of three. This was following training and organizational diagnostics. For example, the National Confederation of Cattle Breeders of Cameroon, CNEB-CAM, has benefited from PRODEL support. Even its Ngaoundéré cattle fair benefited from support in terms of communication and marketing from the 8th to the 10th of November, 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic decided otherwise in 2020. 2021 could be expected to be a happier year.
