The main objective of this component is to increase the contribution of pastoral areas to national meat supply (including urban markets) while improving livestock production systems (cattle, small ruminants, poultry) for poor and conflict-affected communities.
This component is expected to increase the productivity of pastoral production systems and improve the transhumance system by financing sub-projects (SP) presented and managed by local communities.
Component II adopts a collective and community-based approach to pasture management. Since council development plans contain priority community investments that may include sustainable land management investments to address land degradation, community pastoral management sub-projects will be identified in the CDPs developed by the (community driven development programme) PNDP-II and III, and will be implemented according to the same mechanism used by PNDP-III.
