Young veterinarians received an amount of CFA francs ten million in cash. The purpose of the assistance is to help them make private veterinary offices operational. It is a support for them to set up private firms. This decision has been taken by the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries. PRODEL is merely implementing it.
Their duties go beyond ordinary veterinary services. Indeed, they have the mandate to support the implementation of health-oriented livestock farmer groupings. Partnerships with wholesalers make their work easier. These young “vets” have already received shipments of drugs. They are worth CFA francs 3.4 million per office. The support also covers running costs. This includes the salary of the staff members and rent for a time limit.
